- Wash and dry the apples well. Insert a popsicle stick or barbecue stick into each apple on the side of the cabbage and set aside. For the syrup, put the sugar, water, white vinegar and powdered food coloring in a pan, mix well and bring to a low heat and do not stir anymore. After approximately 20 minutes, start testing the point of the syrup, a simple test is to take some of the syrup with a spoon and pour it into a glass of water. Then take the firm syrup and throw it in a container, if it makes a glass noise, it's ready. At this point remove the pan from the heat, wait 1 to 2 minutes and bathe the apples. Do not take too long to bathe the apples, as the syrup hardens quickly. Let it dry in a container with aluminum foil or on a smooth surface greased with butter.
