- Spicy paprika1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric Powder1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin Powder1/4 teaspoon
- Chili Pepper1/4 teaspoon
- Mineral or filtered water4 tablespoon
- Boiled egg1 unit(s)
- Boiled small potato1 unit(s)
- Raisins (optional)1/4 cup
- Oregano to taste
- Sugar to taste
- Start with the dough: In a pan add the lard and water (240 ml) and bring to a boil
- In a bowl put the wheat flour, salt and throw the hot water with the lard, mix with a spoon
- When it warms up, start kneading until the dough is homogeneous (you don't need to knead too much)
- Place the dough in cling film and place in the freezer for 40 minutes or in the fridge for 12 hours.
- Make the stuffing: In a pan put the olive oil, butter and ground beef and sauté until cooked
- Add the chopped onion, seasonings and fry until well cooked.
- Add water (4 tablespoons)
- Add the boiled potato cut into squares, the chopped boiled egg, the raisins and the oregano
- Turn off the heat and wait for it to cool down.
- Meanwhile open the dough with a rolling pin and cut into circles about the size of a saucer.
- Add the stuffing and close the dough
- Close with a fork as if it were a pastry to be drawn
- Grease a mold with a little butter and flour
- Place the empanadas in the mold leaving a space between them.
- Brush an egg yolk and with a sieve sprinkle some sugar over the empanadas (it will caramelize and make it crunchy)
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool completely and unmold carefully.
- Serve then 😋
- Once baked, store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
- Tip: use whatever stuffing you want, you can use your creativity ☺️
