  • Ingredients
  • Recipe
  • Wheat Flour500 g
  • Lard115 g
  • Filtered or mineral water240 ml
  • Salt1 teaspoon
  • Extra virgin olive oil1 tablespoon
  • Butter1 tablespoon
  • Chopped Onion1 unit(s)
  • Ground beef (chuckling or duckling)300 g
  • Salt to taste
  • Sweet paprika1/2 teaspoon
  • Spicy paprika1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin Powder1/4 teaspoon
  • Chili Pepper1/4 teaspoon
  • Mineral or filtered water4 tablespoon
  • Boiled egg1 unit(s)
  • Boiled small potato1 unit(s)
  • Raisins (optional)1/4 cup
  • Oregano to taste
  • Sugar to taste
  1. Start with the dough: In a pan add the lard and water (240 ml) and bring to a boil
  2. In a bowl put the wheat flour, salt and throw the hot water with the lard, mix with a spoon
  3. When it warms up, start kneading until the dough is homogeneous (you don't need to knead too much)
  4. Place the dough in cling film and place in the freezer for 40 minutes or in the fridge for 12 hours.
  5. Make the stuffing: In a pan put the olive oil, butter and ground beef and sauté until cooked
  6. Add the chopped onion, seasonings and fry until well cooked.
  7. Add water (4 tablespoons)
  8. Add the boiled potato cut into squares, the chopped boiled egg, the raisins and the oregano
  9. Turn off the heat and wait for it to cool down.
  10. Meanwhile open the dough with a rolling pin and cut into circles about the size of a saucer.
  11. Add the stuffing and close the dough
  12. Close with a fork as if it were a pastry to be drawn
  13. Grease a mold with a little butter and flour
  14. Place the empanadas in the mold leaving a space between them.
  15. Brush an egg yolk and with a sieve sprinkle some sugar over the empanadas (it will caramelize and make it crunchy)
  16. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  17. Allow to cool completely and unmold carefully.
  18. Serve then 😋
  19. Once baked, store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  20. Tip: use whatever stuffing you want, you can use your creativity ☺️
