- Place the oil, onion and garlic in a pan. Let it cook until it starts to brown. Add 4 cups of water and the beef broth and bring to a boil. When it starts to boil, add the cabbage (which should be torn into medium pieces) and cover the pan to cook for a minute. After this period it will wither, so add the cornmeal slowly, stirring constantly, which should be dissolved in the remaining two cups of water. Stir everything very well and cover the pan to cook for 10 minutes, and open every five minutes to stir the bottom, so it doesn't stick. After this cooking, turn off the heat and keep the pan closed. Serve it hot. Note: You may need more water, as it depends on the type of cornmeal so be careful. She must be soft.
